A viral video of a Baltimore teaching getting punched in the face by a student has sparked an investigation by the school district. 

Posted on Wednesday, the video shows a teacher and a student engaged in a vicious argument at Frederick Douglass High School in Gwynns Falls Parkway. 

According to the user who shared the video, the teacher had just returned to the classroom after recovering from cancer surgery.

In the clip, a fellow classmate can be seen holding the girl back as the teacher states that she isn’t from the area.  

‘F**k is you talking about,’ the student retorted before punching the teacher in the face. She also told the teacher not to get smart with her. 

The clip ends with the student exiting the classroom as the teacher follows. Students in the classroom can be heard shouting in disbelief at what they just witnessed. 

Baltimore City Public Schools released a statement condemning the activity and asserting that the incident would be investigated.

‘School administrators at Frederick Douglass High School continue to investigate a physical altercation that took place today when a teacher was struck by a student following a verbal exchange,’ said BCPS in a statement obtained by Fox Baltimore. 

‘Ensuring a safe teaching and learning environment for our students and staff is paramount to City Schools. Upon reviewing the incident, school administrators will apply disciplinary action in accordance with Baltimore City Public Schools’ Code of Conduct,’

According to the user who posted the video, the student was not suspended by the school’s principal.
