Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to lambaste Alex Jones on Wednesday night, after she claimed that ‘no one remembers’ 2015 winner Jay McGuiness.
Furious viewers took to Twitter to slam the Welsh presenter for her comments made while hosting The One Show, as she interviewed that same series’ contestant Peter Andre.
Jay was crowned the winner of Strictly alongside professional partner Aliona Vilani after making a splash with their incredible Pulp Fiction-inspired jive, and many long time fans have branded The Wanted singer one of the show’s greatest ever winners.

Alex was chatting to contestant Peter, who was sadly eliminated from the show before making it to the quarter finals.
He said: ‘Well the guy that won was excellent, he really was.’
Alex then quipped: ‘Nobody knows about him anymore though, we talk about you now.’
Her comments certainly did not go unnoticed by Strictly fans, who furiously took to Twitter to say that the Welsh presenter needs to ‘do her homework.’

Another angrily said: ‘No one remembers @JayMcGuiness winning #Strictly (said Alex Jones on The One Show talking to Peter Andre tonight). Well, nearly most people that I talk to about Jay being a fan of my art remembers Jay winning #Strictly and his Jive. So a lot of people do remember Jay!’
A third also agreed: ‘Not to mention being voted ‘Greatest Strictly Come Dancing winner in 2017. Come on @MissAlexJones do your homework.’

Strictly fans will remember that Jay was tipped as a favourite to win after just three weeks in the competition, wowing with his incredible Pulp Fiction jive during Movie Week.
At the time speculation was rife around the hunky singer’s extremely close friendship with dance partner Aliona, despite her being married to Vincent Kavanagh.
Meanwhile Alex was herself a contestant on Strictly back in 2011 with pro James Jordan, making it all the way to the semi-final before being eliminated.
